We have the Top Tips for Saving Money on Electric Heating using our latest Energy Saving Features

Electric radiators have many properties and features to help you save money on your heating bills. Highly accurate thermostats and programming are features you would expect. The thermostat ensures an accurate room temperature is maintained with no overheating or under heating. Programming enables you can set comfortable temperatures for when you are using each room and lower ‘economy’ temperatures for when you are not using the rooms, i.e. when you are out or asleep at night etc. Programming enables energy savings as you only need to heat the rooms when you are using them, and you can heat different rooms at different times.

When choosing the Best Electric Radiators make sure you consider the following features:

Radiator Body Material

Cast Aluminium is the best material. Aluminium conducts heat better than steel. All electric radiators heat using radiation and convection. Only cast aluminium gives a higher percentage of radiated heat. Too much convection leads to uncomfortable heating and higher running costs.

 Is your radiator CAST aluminium?

Motion Sensor

Our Curvo+ and Prisma+ ranges are equipped with a motion sensor that detects presence in the room. The motion sensor can be switched on or off. When it is switched on, the radiator will reduce its temperature over a configurable time of absence. The time of absence can be from 10 minutes to 4 hours. When half this time has passed, the radiator will reduce its comfort temperature by 1.5 degrees. When all the time has passed, the radiator changes to economy mode. If at any time motion is detected, the radiator will return to comfort mode.

Our Motion Sensor can result in energy savings of up to 12% on your Electric Heating costs.

Window Open Detection

The window open detection allows you to make energy savings in case you open the window to refresh the ambient air and forget to switch off the radiator. The windows open sensor saves energy by switching to shut down when it detects a temperature drop of between 1.5 to 2 o C in less than 14 minutes. When the controller detects a “window open” the controller automatically switches to OFF mode to make energy saving. When the radiator detects that the room temperature begins to rise again, it will switch back on to its normal operating mode. This function will work in any operating mode: Comfort/Economy/Programme and can be switched on or off. The window open detection is available on Curvo+ & Prisma+ models.

Our Window Open Detection can result in energy savings of up to 4%.

Energy Counter

Prisma+ and Curvo+ radiators have an energy counter so you can view the cumulative power consumption in K/wh. Energy counters give consumers a better understanding of their energy use, and to make reductions in temperature making energy savings. It would be helpful for all appliances to have energy counters.

Energy Counters give customers a better understanding of their energy use to help save money on Electric Heating.

Responsible Consumption Assistant

This end user behaviour indicator is a traffic light system to warn of high temperature (high consumption). The display has a backlight that changes colour as the temperature set is increased or lowered. The indicator colour helps to educate the end user when they manually set the Comfort temperature by visual information regarding the risk of energy consumption to maximise energy savings. The screen changes colour as follows:

GREEN from 7 to 19oC , when it is considered that power consumption and performance are suitable.

YELLOW/ORANGE from 19 degrees to 24 oC, as the screen colour changes towards red, this indicates an increased risk of higher power consumption.

RED 24oC and above indicates the risk of excessive consumption of electricity.

This colour is only indicative only and is assumed that the correct size radiator has been chosen for the room size.

Colour changing display helps educate customers regarding consumption to help reduce Electric Heating costs

Smart Controls for Electric Heating

Smart controls are the latest technology in the electric radiator market. Smart controls for central heating (gas/oil) have been around for a while. Now our iVista system gives ultimate control from anywhere. Many of our customers have used the iVista system in their second homes and holiday homes. You can turn the temperature up before you arrive and down after you leave. All programming and features can be adjusted via your smartphone or tablet from anywhere in the world. See our customer reviews for iVista here.

Smart Controls enable heating to be switched off remotely if you forget. This puts you in Control of Electric heating costs

Electricity Tariff

As well as choosing the most efficient electric radiators, if you want to save money on your Electric Heating then shopping around for your electricity is one of the most important things to do. If you are one of the millions of people who have never switched, you could easily save £200-£300 per year by changing your tariff and supplier. Here at Electric Radiator Solutions we help customers understand their electricity bill and help them find the cheapest tariff available.
